Our Mission

Narrature Therapy Group believes in the importance of providing a safe space for stories to be heard, processed, and rewritten. Our mission is to enhance strength, resilience, and empowerment. We understand that therapy is no easy task and we are here to support each healing journey.

We consider all people to be biological, psychological, social, and spiritual beings. We treat each individual holistically by exploring all aspects of them and provide referrals in order to improve overall health, such as primary care doctors, medication management, therapeutic groups, and connections to the community.

We value self-care, laughter, and joy. The topics that are brought to the therapy room are sometimes difficult. We will explore these topics while incorporating gentle, silly, and fun aspects. Self-care is often given up first when we are stressed or overwhelmed. We will spend time exploring ways to take care of the self physically and mentally. Nature is a great resource for self-care. It pushes people out of their home, their safe space, and sometimes their comfort zone. See our resources page for more about self-care and nature.

"The most dangerous stories we make up are the narratives that diminish our inherent worthiness. We must reclaim the truth about our lovability, divinity, and creativity"

— BRENE BROWN

Our Approach

Narrature Therapy Group embraces the ORCA-Stance wholeheartedly. This stance is humanistic; it emphasizes the value of all humans and each individual’s importance.  ORCA is an acronym for Openness, Respect, Curiosity, and Accountability. Openness allows us to connect with our clients, empathize with their unique stories, and hold what feels heavy in a safe space. Respect calls us to cherish each client’s value, worth, and experiences that have made them who they are as human beings. Curiosity is what drives us to learn more about our clients, wonder aloud, and reflect on what they bring to the therapy session without changing anything. Accountability hold us responsible for our power and privilege in hearing, processing, and shifting each individual’s story.

*The ORCA-stance was created in the Seattle Pacific University’s Marriage and Family Therapy Masters Program.
